Returning land to it's natural state of wetlands is an amazing task. Artist Deborah DeWit and Carl Vandervoort, a documentary filmaker, use art and film to look at scientific and social aspects of wetland restoration. The 2010 Darwin Lecture series continues with the Oct. 8th lecture by Dr. Fances White, Primatologist of University of Oregon. Dr. White presents a thought provoking program based on her reserach of non-human primates such as pygmy chimpanzees and lemurs and human primate social behavior.

Caves are Cool - October 9
Join us for a special talk on Central Oregon lava tubes. Learn how molten rivers of rock have cooled into chilly caves. Then tour a local cave guided by a naturalist to see firsthand the amazing geological features of caves.
Please be prepared to caravan to the cave on packed gravel roads. Bring flashlights, water, snacks and dress warm.

Sunriver Goes Wild for Garth Stein!
Garth Stein is the best selling author of The Art of Racing in the Rain, How Evan Broke His Head & Other Secres, and Raven Stole the Moon. Garth co-stars with the Sunriver Nature Center's golden eagle.
Event takes place at Maverick's at Sunriver located on Cottonwood Road. $10 at the door.

The Darwin lecture series is wrapped up by Dr. Kathleen Dean Moore, distinguished Professor of Philosophy, Oregon State University and founding director of the Spring Creek Project of Ideas, Nature and the Written Word. Dr. Moore tackles the big questions that we all ask - What Does It All Mean?

Christmas Bird Count! Bird watchers of all ages will enjoy displays and information on this annual event. You can do your own survey by picking up forms at the Nature Center and returning them by 4pm. You can also join a naturalist during a guided walk at 9am or 1pm for an educational and fun time.

Celebrate the majestic Eagle druing a fun, artistic and music filled event. Share a cozy winter evening with our community of friends and visitors. Want to have fun in the snow and learn something too? Meet at the Sunriver Nature Center then travel to a nearby snow park. A narturalist will guide you through a delightful winter forest.
