Traveling Trunks

Choose from a variety of trunks filled with touchable biofacts such as pelts, skulls, wings, educational activities, and a handy teacher's guide. Each trunk rental includes a 30 minute live animal presentation or naturalist led in-class activity. Give your classroom something they will remember forever!

*Mileage fees will be applied to travel greater than 15 miles from Sunriver.

Natural Science Benchmark Classes

Benchmark classes are aligned with Oregon Core Teaching Standards for science, grades K - 8.

Two-hour programs cost: $180, maximum of 35 students.

Benchmark programs include general admission to the Nature Center, a live animal presentation and a naturalist-led hike. 

Classes are located at the Sunriver Nature Center.

Life in Cold Blood

Crawl through the lives of reptiles and amphibians, explore their place win the environment and investigate their specialized life cycles and the adaptations that allow them to survive.

Tracking the Wild Beast

Step into the wild and learn how to track animal signs by careful observation of the environment, investigation of physical differences among a variety of local animals, and animal behavior.

Birds of Prey

Discover the unique characteristics of owls, eagles, hawks, and falcons and their special adaptations that make them excellent predators. Meet a live raptor and discover what owls eat!

Pond Study

Be a wetland scientist! Dip into the wet world of watersheds, ponds and other wetland areas through hands-on investigation and sampling techniques to learn about local pond ecosystems.

Nature Center Field Trips

Visit the Nature Center for a self-guided tour of our natural history museum, botanical garden, and nature trail or add it on to your benchmark class! Perfect for students of all ages.
Admission cost: $4 per student, chaperones free. 1:5 chaperone to student ratio is required.


Naturalist guided hike, Cost: $20 per hike

Animal Presentation, Cost: $20 per talk

Bring an Animal to Your Classroom!

Bring a naturalist to your classroom with a live animal ambassador. Call the Nature Center to find out what animals are available and to schedule your visit!

30-45 minute presentation, $80*
*mileage fees outside of Bend are not included

Night in Nature

Spend the night at the Sunriver Nature Center! Hang out with our naturalists, get hands-on with our nature themed programming, hike through the woods at night and wake up refreshed for a refreshing morning walk along Lake Aspen! We'll even throw in a movie before bedtime. Parents and teachers, you will have access to a full service kitchen where you can prepare meals and snacks (no food is provided). A staff naturalist will be on hand all night. 

Program dates:

November 1st through March 31st on Friday evenings from 6pm to 9am Saturday morning.

Cost: $25/person
1:4 student/chaperone ratio required
Chaperones are FREE.
Minimum of 10, maximum of 35.

Reservations are available months ahead of time but should be made no later than 2 weeks prior to the date of your intended visit.
